ALS Advocacy

  • Instagram
  • Facebook

As I am sure most of us in the world, I was very bored during quarantine of 2020. Therefore, I knew I needed to do something to make a difference, so I created a Facebook and Instagram page to raise awareness for the disease, ALS. Since then, I have gained a following on both platforms and have been able to spread awareness and help those that are need by fundraising money. I have fundraised money in unique ways, such as making bracelets, attending the "Walk to Defeat ALS" and participating in Lou's Crew. I have also advocated through giving speeches about what ALS is to people in the community.

Below is media I have created to post on the ALS Advocacy Instagram and Facebook accounts.

On Your Mark

In May of 2023, I took on A Mile A Day challenge to raise awareness for ALS. My passion is in advocating for this disease, and I knew I ought to 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 it up and do something big and unique to raise awareness for ALS. This is how On Your Mark started.

It first started as a personal goal to walk A Mile A Day to remember how blessed I truly am to still have the ability to walk. Then I posted it on my ALS Advocacy accounts, where I advocate for ALS, and the response was remarkable. Many people wanted to join in on walking a mile a day to raise awareness. Since people wanted to join in, I thought of a unique way for all of use to do this together. I created a hashtag and a gratitude challenge. *To the right you can see more details about it in the PDF*

On Your Mark is what I named the A Mile A Day challenge in memory of my father, Mark Wilkie, who passed from ALS in 2019. Not only was On Your Mark a great way for me to do what I love, advocate for ALS and to do this in memory of my father, but to strengthen my skills of creating and executing content. I invested several hours into creating posts that were worthy of putting out there and deliberating of what to post and when to do so. I am grateful that I have this fiery passion instilled in me to advocate for ALS and to use my gifts to do so. I am eager for what is to come and excited to continue On Your Mark for years to come.
