Welcome!!
Hi there! Thank you for visiting my portfolio!
My name is Maycee Wilkie, a senior at Iowa State University majoring in Public Relations with minors in Event Management and Political Science. Last summer I worked as a Marketing Intern at Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, assisting internal and external communication and sales efforts. I am currently the Social Media Intern for the Live Like Lou Foundation, specializing in onboarding and content efforts for The Lou Workout.
Known for a fun-spirited personality and a strong work ethic, I possess communication, leadership, time management and problem-solving skills. After completing my undergraduate education, I aspire to work in advocating for the disease, ALS. For the next year at Iowa State, I plan to strengthen the skills I have and learn as much as possible to become a valuable asset in the workforce.

Why I chose Public Relations
I remember watching the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, on Vine, for the first time and wondering, "Why in the world would someone do that to themselves?" I can recall having no idea what ALS was or what the Ice Bucket Challenge meant. Little did I know three years later, after seeing that challenge for the first time, my dad would be diagnosed with ALS. Since then, educating myself and advocating for ALS has become a passion of mine. My dream job is to work for an organization that advocates for ALS.

Without the publicity and rave of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, I would have never heard of ALS before my dad was diagnosed. With the help of public relations and advocacy, my dad and I were able to become more educated about ALS. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself by advocating and educating others about ALS.
